Łukasz Moneta signed a professional contract with Legia Warsaw on Monday. This 20-year-old player from Racibórz has bound himself to Warsaw club until 30th June 2017. He debuted in the first team during the game against Zawisza Bydgoszcz (Polish Supercup) on 9th July.

Legia’s footballers didn’t cope with Zawisza’s players at Łazienkowska on Wednesday evening. They lost 2-3 and didn’t win the Polish Supercup. Zawisza struck its winning goal in the injury time. It’s worth mentioning that seven Legia’s footballers debuted on the pitch during this game.

Polish Cup winner Legia Warsaw was defeated 4-2 in the penalty shootout by Polish league winner Śląsk Wrocław on Sunday. The game which was seen only by 5.000 (!) spectators (and without presence of the away team’s supporters due to their boycott) turned out to be a total flop. The first goal was scored by Śląsk’s Rok Elsner five minutes before the break. Legia’s Danijel Ljuboja equalised nearly a quarter after the beginning of the second half.

Legia should have played Wisła Cracow in the Polish Supercup on 23rd July. However, the game has been rescheduled for February 2012. After friendly matches against Wisła Płock and Znicz Pruszków, Legia’s coach Maciej Skorża said that his team needed to play a good game before matches in the UEFA Europa League. That’s why Warsaw team’s footballers are going to play a friendly with VMFD Žalgiris on 22nd July.

Due to two defeats in a row: with Odra Wodzisław (0-1) and with Polonia Bytom (0-1) members of Legia’s board decided to fire Warsaw team's coach, Jan Urban. During yesterday's after-match conference Urban said he was still Legia's coach. However he added that he hadn't checked his cellular phone.
