Polish Cup: Lechia Gdańsk 0-1 Legia Warsaw

In the first leg of Polish Cup’s semi-final Legia was able to win 1-0 with Lechia, although this was the team from Gdańsk which was leading most of the time. The only goal was scored by Michał Kucharczyk in the 88th minute of the game. There were about 600 Warsaw club’s supporters in the stands. We encourage you to see 58 photographs taken by Mishka.

More than 17.000 people saw an unbelievable match between Legia and Ruch on Saturday. Unbelievable because the team from Warsaw lost 2-3 although it was leading 2-0! After a very poor game Legia was defeated 2-0 by GKS in Bełchatów on Sunday. Legia’s Ivica Vrdoljak wasn’t able to score a goal from a penalty which was dictated by the referee in the first half of the match. Polish Cup: Legia Warsaw 2-0 Ruch Chorzów

After quite good game Legia’s players were able to defeat 2-0 Ruch Chorzów in the second leg of the Polish Cup’s quarterfinal and they won the promotion to the semifinal. Both goals were scored by Warsaw team’s captain Ivica Vrdoljak – the first few seconds before the end of the first half and the second nearly fifteen minutes after the break. Footballers from Łazienkowska drew 1-1 in the first match played in Upper Silesia two weeks ago. Although Legia was leading 1-0 with Śląsk Wrocław thanks to Ariel Borysiuk’s goal in the first few minutes of the match, the team from Warsaw eventually lost 1-2. The away team hasn’t been able to win in the capital of Poland for the last ten years. This time Wroclavian footballers managed to defeat Warsaw players. At first, Przemysław Kaźmierczak equalised and then, four minutes after the beginning of the second half, former Legia’s supporter Sebastian Mila struck the second goal for his club. In the derby match, which took place at Marshal Józef Piłsudski Polish Army Stadium on Sunday, Legia defeated 1-0 its local rival Polonia Warsaw. The only goal of the game was stroke by... Polonia’s Maciej Sadlok in the 26th minute. During whole 90 minutes these were Legia’s footballers who predominated over their opponents. In the first leg of Polish Cup’s quarterfinal Legia only drew 1-1 with Ruch in Chorzów on Tuesday. Warsaw footballers played really poor in the first half and probably that is why the host team was leading 1-0. The only goal was scored by Ruch’s Arkadiusz Piech in the 15th minute of the game. Cracovia Cracow 3-3 Legia Warsaw

Footballers of both Cracovia and Legia let their supporters watch a great number of goals on Friday. The match finished with an amazing 3-3 draw. The first goal was scored by Cracovia’s Marian Jarabica in the 36th minute of the game. Just before the break Legia’s Michał Kucharczyk equalised. Five minutes after the beginning of the second half the Cracovian team was leading again – Alexandru Suvorov properly executed a penalty. Twelve minutes later Warsaw team’s new player Michal Hubnik scored his first goal in Polish Ekstraklasa.

Legia luckily managed to defeat 1-0 Polonia Bytom thanks to Miroslav Radović’s goal in the 76th minute of the match. If the host team had properly executed a penalty in the third minute of the game it would have been leading 1-0. There were about 6.000 people in the stands. Footballers of Legia managed to defeat 3-0 their rivals from Gdynia at Łazienkowska on Friday evening. The first goal was scored in the first half by Ivica Vrdoljak who properly executed a penalty. After the break Arka’s goalkeeper was defeated twice – firstly by Bruno Mezenga and secondly, a second before the end of the match, by Tomasz Kiełbowicz who stroke a goal appropriately executing a free kick.

In the one-eighth final of Polish Cup footballers of Legia managed to win their match against Śląsk Wrocław thanks to two tremendous goals scored by Sebastian Szałachowski and have been promoted to the quarterfinal of the tournament. The first half of the game finished with a 0-0 draw. All three goals were scored after the break.

Korona Kielce 1-4 Legia

Legia’s players managed to win the second match in a row. This time footballers of Warsaw defeated 4-1 Korona in Kielce on Friday evening. After the end of the first half Legia was leading 2-1 thanks to Michał Kucharczyk’s and Ivica Vrdoljak’s goals. The second mentioned player properly executed a penalty which was ordered by the referee who saw that Korona’s Zbigniew Małkowski had fouled Legia’s Miroslav Radović. Footballers of Legia managed to win 1-0 their match against Widzew in Łódź thanks to Ivica Vrdoljak’s goal in the 16th minute of the first half. Warsaw team could defeat its rivals at least 3-0, but firstly the referee didn’t recognize unfairly a foul on Rzeźniczak after which there should have been a penalty for Legia and secondly he didn’t recognize a properly scored goal by Michał Kucharczyk.

In a charity game organised for Wojtek, one of Legia’s supporters who’s very ill and who managed to create friendship between fans from Warsaw and Hague twenty-five years ago, players from the capital of Poland defeated 1-0 Dutch footballers. The only goal was stroke in the 38th minute of the match by Marcin Komorowski. Few players who are being tested by Legia’s coaching staff appeared in the match: Fall Mouhamadou, Osama Elsamni and Ahmed Toure. After Legia’s three defeats in a row there were very few fans who believed that Warsaw team could achieve success in the match against Lech Poznań on Friday. Doubts of Legia’s fans were justified because thanks to a tremendous shot of Lech’s Siergiej Kriwiec in the 10th minute of the game the team from Poznań was leading 1-0. 1.400 Lech’s supporters who decided to visit the capital of Poland simply burst with joy.

Footballers of Legia managed to defeat 1-0 Śląsk in Wrocław on Friday. The only goal was scored thanks to a tremendous shot of Warsaw team’s Maciej Rybus in the 81st minute of the match. Earlier that evening Legia’s Takesure Chinyama should have stroke a goal, but his shot turned out to be a terrible muff. Due to a friendly game against FC Arsenal last Saturday, Legia played its first match in the league against its local rival on Friday evening. Unfortunately, the lineup chosen by Maciej Skorża, didn’t succeed at all. Footballers from Ujazdów were beaten 3-0 by the team from Muranów. All goals were scored in the second half. Legia only drew 2-2 with GKS Bełchatów at Łazienkowska on Saturday and didn't take advantage of Ruch's defeat. The team from Chorzów lost 0-3 with Korona in Kielce. If Legia had won its match, it would have been qualified to the UEFA Europa League. The tie means that these are Ruch's players who are going to play in the European games. The team from Warsaw closes the season with fourth-place finish. The last game was watched by nearly two thousand fans.

Legia was defeated 1-0 by Polonia at Konwiktorska on Tuesday. This is the first Legia's defeat in a league derby match after 60 years! The only goal was scored by Polonia’s Andreu Mayoral in the 24th minute of the game. Moreover, Legia could and honestly should have lost much higher. Moreover, if players from Cracow had taken advantage of a great number of their situations to score goals, Legia could have lost even 0-6 or 0-7. Wisła’s Paweł Brożek scored a hat-trick. There were about 4500 people in the stands.

Due to the recent tragedy of Polish presidential plane near Smoleńsk in Russia and the fact that coffins with bodies of the victims have been transported to Torwar, Legia had to play its match against Jagiellonia at Polonia΄s stadium. No one was able to enter the stadium at Konwiktorska 6 in Warsaw. Fortunately, Legia managed to defeat 2-1 the team from Białystok. The first goal was scored by Tomasz Kiełbowicz in the 5th minute of the game. Thirty minutes later Legia΄s Bartłomiej Grzelak stroke the second goal for Warsaw club.

Legia was defeated 1-0 by Lech in Poznań. Due to this defeat (and simultaneous Wisła’s victory over Polonia) Warsaw footballers practically lost their chance to win the Polish championship title. The only goal was scored by Lech’s Stilić in the 76th minute of the match. If Legia’s goalkeeper, Jan Mucha, hadn’t been saving his goal effectively, Warsaw team would have probably lost much higher.

This is hard to believe, but Warsaw footballers managed to win 3-2 their match against Lechia, although the team from Gdańsk was leading 2-0! The first goal was scored by Lechia’s Paweł Nowak in the first minute of the game. Nine minutes later Lechia’s Hubert Wołąkiewicz properly executed a penalty and Legia was losing 0-2. Fortunately, thirteen minutes before the end of the first half Legia’s Maciej Rybus managed to score a goal and Warsaw club was losing just 1-2.

Although Legia's players managed to win 2-1 the second leg of the Polish Cup's quarterfinal against Ruch, this is the team from Chorzów which has been promoted to the semifinal. Due to Warsaw team's defeat (0-1) last Tuesday, Ruch Chorzów managed to win the competition on away goals.

Legia lost its third match in a row. In the first leg of the Polish Cup’s quarterfinal, Stefan Białas’s footballers weren’t able to beat Ruch Chorzów at Cicha. Moreover, thanks to Ruch’s Artur Sobiech, who entered the pitch in the 57th minute and scored a goal in the 73rd mnute of the game, this was the host team which managed to win the match.
